Today I’m going to show the penultimate stage of modeling my “Leopold” tug. Now the ship is placed behind the glass like Golden Fish after it was brush painted with Vallejo acrylics and than airbrushed with gloss acrylic varnish. Model is made without any extra parts or upgrades. Decals are under a thin coat of varnish. Last stage will include aplying the set […]

This afternoon I spent on preparing “Pionier I” and “Njord” for future painting. One of the most important elements for this models are the photo-etched parts over the bridges. By the way I placed the masts in their holes, and prepared the second tug, this time “Leopold” for painting. To be honest, my skills as far as photo-etched parts are concerned, are average, […]

It seems this naval projects takes forever 😉 Next stage. Yesterday I shaped the steel elements and photo-etched stuff for Polish “Smok” (Dragon) and “Nurek” (Diver) ships. Last time I made a ship in 1/700scale was about two years ago, so I am a bit out of practice, but I believe my skills come back. Today both ships are going to be painted. […]

IMHO the most rewarding part of modelling was always designing the prototypes, with fitting, technological aspects and all that stuff. Glueing and painting is something I treat as necessery evil. Today I cast first Duch Coasters. I want to make three verisons from three different countries. “Achilles” from Greece has shortened funnel, while Dutch “Lola” and Polish “Bug” they have part of the […]

The fourth model I am working on still requires a bit of work, but this week it will be ready for sure. I made the hull a bit more emerged.  I must finish the bow, drill some bull’s eyes, add some doors and ventilators. The final model will have three variants and five possible decal sets from three diferent countries – Greece, Nederland […]

  • All the elements for three ships are cast and ready to assemble. Today, my main targets were two sets of masts and booms for “Pionier I” and “Njord”. I am working on this pair of ships simutanenously to spare some time. I did’n plan to write about this, but I’ve changed my mind after I found my “Graal” in this particular matter. To […]

While the first “Nurek” is hardening in the mould i decided to clean my disk up. In a forgotten folder I found a bounch of my old pictures from “Musee de la Marine” in Paris, placed in monumental Trocadero complex. BTW probably the very best place to to look up to Eiffel Tower. So I found a sequence of pictures of one of […]

Short report from my “shipyard” First m/s “Pionier I” is cast. Tommorow I am starting the assembling with photo-etched parts. Secondly – I had to redesign the reflector for “Smok/Rixhöft”. Now it’s size is perfect for the crow’s nest. Last but not least – “Nurek” will be moulded this evening. Ain’t she sweet… 🙂

  • Today was the day I felt a bit like a father in the delivery ward while I was unmolding the first model of ORP “Smok” (Dragon). With the shaking hands I started to try the elements together. In a few minutes I realized model number 001 was well cast. Besides I am a week late I am very happy with the result. Tommorow […]
